If only someone could guarantee the money really ends up where it should :-s I'm always very reluctant when it comes to donating money for that reason. Wouldn't it make more sense to give it to AIESEC or people we know down there and they would take care of the rest, i.e. giving it to the right organisations and people? And we should also think about the people dying every day in Africa and other places from starvation or AIDS...it's like a Tsunami every day there...

Yeah, I agree. Everybody should really consider when, to whom and how they make donations.
Its sad, but last year I read an article about some houses that were constructed in one of the countries hit by the tsunami, and as the people who built them didnt consider the locals' wishes and needs, no one wanted to move into the houses. Also I also found some negative articles about development aid in Africa (here is one of them: http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/spiegel/0,1518,363663,00.html, written by an African econonomist, who is not really exited about the help the continent got over the last decades). I will have to do more research though, and after all I just made some donations yesterday, and hope that they will end up where they should...cant help it, will always be a dreamer ;)
