Update from Sharm El Sheikh
Jen, Roudy, Michael, and I have been in Sharm El Sheikh for the last 24 hours. We saw the sites of the two bombings. They were very sad to see, but the most devastating thing is seeing how empty the place is. We were talking last night with a friend who is working here and the impact on those who depend on tourism to feed their families is devestating. Its the height of the season here and although some strong-hearted tourists like us linger on, their is an eerie feeling of emptiness.
I feel very safe here though...more police and bag checks than I have ever seen, even post Sept. 11th in NYC. And I still think this is the most beautiful place I have ever been. Today we spent the day snorkeling and touring the bay by boat...I am in love with Sharm...and more upset than ever with the idiots that would destroy a place as beautiful as this.
