the key thing to note is "highway accidents". In many countries they don't have "highways" per se and I'm sure you'd find a lot more dangerous driving in those countries(e.g. India). Driving in the UAE is comparable to driving in the Target parking lot, not scary at all.

I have to admit I never drove in Target parking lot.. But, I can say that driving in the UAE is just crazy! Everyone changes lanes all the time withouth signaling it, everyone speeds like hell on the highway (especially if they are driving their Ferraris or Porsches)and I see at least 3!!! accidents EVERYDAY. Its just wild... Now imagine me driving a smart car in the middle of all this chaos! :)

I think my family is responible for like 90% of all those accidents.

here are some illustrations:
1) oil spilled on the road, so weels get out of control
2) Horse decided it wants to cross the Highway!
3) Big truck overloaded with stuff goes 130 kilo's per hour, driver falls asleep for pulling tripple shifts, so he goes in the opposite lane
4) some tuck loaded with rocks, a big ass rock falls, poor car driver behind doesn't see it, and BOOM!

And that's only in my family on the same road (Cairo-Alex)

Well, I didn't think UAE was that bad when I was there, but maybe it was because I was coming from India/Pakistan. ha! In Los Angeles I see lots of accidents involving luxury cars, too..but it brings more of a smirk to my face than fear:)! On the other hand, I was literally praying that I wouldn't die in India. We're not talking about Jaguars, we're talking about Cows;)!
