provocation ?

It is an established facts that 12 cartoons were published by a small Danish newspaper back in September, an event which just now provokes a lot of harsh reactions by some Muslims.

Here's an interesting nuggets of information being examined by the bloghosphere.

A group called "Islamic Society of Denmark" apparently toured the Middle East to raise the awareness of the publication and added three additional 'cartoons' to the 12 as if they were part of the original 12 published cartoons. You can view these three additional 'cartoons' here (warning: offensive content).

"Akhmad Akkari, spokesman of the Danish Muslim organisations which organised the tour, explained that the three drawings had been added to "give an insight in how hateful the atmosphere in Denmark is towards Muslims." "

The tour may give an insightful information why it takes a while (4 months) for the reactions to happen. This is fucked up.

It seems that the status-quo has changed. Let's assume that this was (for the most part) fabricated, is this a classic case of propaganda? I can see how most people would respond to this question, I'm more interested in hearing disagreement with this.

The second question: To what end?

Third: Which is the biggest insult to Islam?

a. A suicide bomber killing muslims in the name of Islam?

b.Or an independent newspaper depicting the prophet of Islam in a seriously offensive manner through caricature. A newspaper who has publically apologized and has been tryring to reach out to the offended.

I see a big difference between the original 12 cartoons and the 3 extra added. Those 3 were created not to amuse "Western people" but to hurt feelings of all muslims. This is really too much :/ Now I can understand better what is all this noise about. This Islamic Society of Denmark just confirms my natural suspicion to all religious organizations :)

hello dody,

those are very offensive pictures that you have posted.
please delete this post as it is very offensive for all muslims.
remember that one day you were one of the people initiating the salam and this is totaly against what you told me when we met in calgary canada.

RESPECT

I disagree. Dody didn?t post anything offensive. He just provided link to the cartoons (with a warning notice). I think it is necessary to know what we are speaking about and seeing the pictures definitely helps Europeans to understand why Muslims are so angry about it.

I agree with solnitchka.
I didn't know about those 3 cartoons, and I didn't understand why muslim people all over the world are all getting so upset.
Now I can understand a bit better, even tough I still don't understand why so many cannot treat the subject in a less violent manner.

And I think it's important to see for everyone, that the Danish newspaper didn't publish those 3 cartoons.

anonymous,

If cultural understanding is a 747, what we have right now is a crash with most passengers killed.
When a plane crash happened, it is important to try to piece together of what happened.

When I took Youssef to meet in Calgary, which was become the genesis of the Salaam program, it was in the spirit "there's a problem, let's tackle it head on". Before Salaam, the issue of relations between the Arab world and US was just talk. After Salaam, it is action.

We can't sit back and just react "oh, that's terrible" on the action and reactions in this case without trying to figure out what happened.

People don't just wake up one day and decide to protest and burn Danish embassies. Heck, how many people can actually locate a Danish embassy in their city or on the map?

AIESEC, if it is willing, is actually a great organization to investigate this 'cultural understanding' crash because you have people on the ground that can do the investigative work and know the language.

If AIESEC wants really to play on the global stage, this is it. Issue a definitive and through investigation/impact report and let the world know what really happened.

This is really interesting, as I am the one who asked the question about which is the biggest insult to Islam. No one can answer that question, I'll ask it again:

Third: Which is the biggest insult to Islam?

a. A suicide bomber killing muslims in the name of Islam?

b.Or an independent newspaper depicting the prophet of Islam in a seriously offensive manner through caricature. A newspaper who has publically apologized and has been tryring to reach out to the offended.

anon,

The problem with your question is that it asks for a measurement of offensiveness.

It's like asking which one is more coward, a soldier that run away 1 km from the battlefield or the one that run 10 km.

the question is pretty simple Dody, as a muslim, which offends you more! Yes, please measure.

Fair enough. Let's see if any Muslim nomads answer it.

Hello all,

i have a question :
what do you prefer in case some one has a picture of your mother naked ( i am really sorry for using this word, accept my appologies).
would you like the others keep on posting it to measure your disapointement or not.

It is up to you

Posting one's mother naked doesn't cause worldwide outrage (just google it up)

If you check, the cartoons themselves have never been posted on nomadlife. It was linked to because there is no way to describe them without repeating the filth on this front page.
