We are just a bunch of kids - it's true
"The adage "like a kid at heart" may be truer than we think, since new research is showing that grown-ups are more immature than ever.
Specifically, it seems a growing number of people are retaining the behaviors and attitudes associated with youth.
As a consequence, many older people simply never achieve mental adulthood, according to a leading expert on evolutionary psychiatry." (Discovery Channel)

Ironically, we're getting more immature while life-expectancy increases...

I think there is another movement happening at the same time: Many young people want to reach "adult stage" too fast. It's okay to be young and foolish while you can. Don't you think that if you're being "young" while you actually are, that you won't have the urge in your later years to still act like you're a teenager or in your twens?

I agree with what Carissa is saying - which is basically to act your age. :)
Something i saw a few days ago made me think about another nice little cliche - 'You're only as old as you think you are'.
The incident involved a 70 year old chinese man, dancing the Samba with a 20 something Brazilian girl. It was all so spontaneous and made wish I would have the same flexibility and energy when I got close to that age.

:) One of my goals for "later" is definetely "mens sana in corpore sano" (I hope I got that right).
A question: Does the phenomenon described in the article only hit western cultures? I mean, cultures that have problems dealing with ageing and death? Cultures in which "old" people are basically regarded as worthless?
