Maintenance is a foreign concept to Egypt
To follow a series of poor maintenance and negligence from the Ministry of transport in Egypt, two passenger trains collided killing what seems to be 37 (according to government) and 70 (according to news agencies) passengers so far and injuring over 130.
The 2 trains were both going to Cairo, one from banha and the other from Mansoura.
This line (Cairo/Alexandria line) where the accident happened is the busiest train line in Egypt with people commuting to Cairo every morning to take care of their businesses.
I have checked with all the frequent travelers between Cairo/Alex like myself - so far everyone is fine.
It's very unlikely that any AIESECers or friends of AIESECers have been harmed since the trains were 3rd class trains - or as they are nicknamed "Trains of Death" ( i am serious!)
