Warning to Fellow Caireans
An Egyptian court has sentenced an internet blogger to four years' prison for insulting Islam and the president.
Abdel Kareem Nabil's trial was the first time that a blogger had been prosecuted in Egypt. He had used his weblog to criticise the country's top Islamic institution, the al-Azhar university and President Hosni Mubarak, whom he called a dictator.

dude....talking about transparency of media, this article is about half of the news!!
The guy is detained for spying for Israel, and was accused of traveling to Turkey, communicating with Israeli embassy there, and then traveled to Canada, recruited some Egyptian Coptic lads to talk negatively about Egypt.
The proof for such incidents represented in the request from Egyptian government later on to capture some 20something Israelis in Canada, US, and Turkey for interogations in the same case.
There was an article about the whole news in Ha'artez (Israeli Newspaper) that the Israeli government is seeking methods to make those 20something Israelis travel back to Israel without getting detained at any of the previously mentioned countries!!
At the end, it's not just about blogging against somebody or some entity. There are hundreds and thousands of blogs that simply write some bullshit and "criticise" whatever and whoever they want in Egypt====Don't worry about free speech in Egypt :)

here is what a lawyer had to say about the victim:
"I was hoping that he would get a harsher sentence because he presented to the world a bad image of Egypt. There are things that one should not talk about, like religion and politics. He should have got a 10-year sentence," said lawyer Nizar Habib, who attended the trial as a member of the public.
