damn you aussies

The treble is complete.
Despite the damnation, there's nothing really one can do except bow down to what is probably the most fierce dominance of world cricket since the Windies of the 70s. The treble is complete. The Lankan lions despite their brilliance upto the final lost both their matches in the entire tournament to the team that just can't be beat.
It's ironic that the world was pointing fingers at the thunder from down under before the big WC 07. Brett Lee injured, maulings from England and New Zealand before arriving in the carribean, chinks in their armour etc etc.
Turns out the 'roos were just playin us all...the undefeated streak continues and I could do nothing but smile and shake my head in disbelief with some of the strokes Gilly played.
On a side note, respect and wishes to the leading wicket taker in WC history - Glenn Mcgrath. The man has walked off the pitch in both forms of the game with style and grace, he will be missed; if not by the batsmen, then surely by the millions of spectators.
Cheers Aussies around the world! Grab yourselves a cold one and take a hiatus from the game for f!@#$%s sake. this shit is getting ridiculous :P

I watched it in a bar in the big apple. And sang C'mon Aussie, C'mon, C'mon! No use of the word girt but hey ... you can't have everything.

they are so good, but the fun is slightly lessened by how clinical they have been in their destruction...
sri lanka looked pretty good though - malinga especially - although it was scary to see how undisturbed the aussie batsmen were by him. he ran rings around most of the other batsmen in the tournament...
i think the team without the oldies like gilchrist, hayden, mcgrath, ponting etc will be less dominant - but still frigging hard to beat.

exit gilchrist, hayden, mcgrath, ponting - enter haddin, clarke, clark, voges, lee, tait....still FRIGGIN hard to beat. But ponting's gonna be around another 4 years I reckon..if not that least one more ashes and champions trophy for sure.

oh and this I say without knowing the Husseys lurking in your domestic scene...jeez scary.

I say this without taking anything away from the Aussies, actually, it's quite a telling statement on their domestic talent..
Heard on the news that India's so called new-look, "young" team for Bangladesh will have an average age of 32... the rate at which a billion cricket mad people churn out 'good' talent is astonishing, no?
While across the Indian ocean, in a country with more sheep than fruit flies, you've got a 2nd string team that could've made it to the finals of the tournament along with the 1st side!

Am I the only one that feels old when you hear Gilly referred to as an oldie?

Thanks Chitgo for the good wishes to us Aussies, I'll grab a cold one for sure!! I think I'll make it a VB. A thoroughly deserved victory! I was one of the camp saying theres no way they're winning this one after the dressing down the Poms & the Kiwis handed them not too long ago....but to quote a good friend & fellow aficionado....cometh the hour, cometh the team!!
