Instruction if you have not a blogger blog.
1. Click on 'Create a blog' once you are logged in to blogger.com using your gmail username and password.
2. You will be presented with a screen titled '2 Name your blog'. Skip this screen by choosing on 'Advanced Blog Setup' link located at the lower part of the screen.
3. Now you are in business.
4. Blog Title : This can be anything you like (e.g. my random world, i love travel) . This is not your nomadlife blog address.
5. Ftp Server : ftp.nomadlife.org.
6. Protocol : Choose 'FTP'.
7. Blog filename : default.aspx
8. Blog Url : This would be http://xxx.nomadlife.org. Replace xxx with your nomadname (it's given in the setup email). So you should fill something like http://devrim.nomadlife.org here.
9. Ftp Username : It's given in your setup mail.
10. Ftp Password : It's given in your setup mail.
11. Click next. You will be asked to pick your blogger template. Just choose one and you are set.
12. Welcome to
nomadlife.
Instruction if you have already a new blogger blog(with gmail login info) and currently publishing on blogspot.com
There are three major steps required here.
- Revert to Classic Templates.
- Change Publishing method to FTP.
- Fill up the Ftp publishing information.
Step by step instruction.
1. Login to blogger.
2. Click on 'Settings'.
3. Click on 'Publishing'.
4. Find this sentence '
Hint: If you want to publish to an external FTP server, you will need to
Set 'Blog Readers' to 'Anybody' and use a
Classic Template.'
5. Click on 'Classic Template'.
6. You will be in the Edit Html screen. Backup your current template by click on 'Download Full Template'.
7. Click on 'Revert to Classic Template' located at the bottom of the screen.
8. Save template change.
9. Click on 'Settings' and 'Publishing' again.
10. Look for this sentence '
Switch to: ?
Custom Domain (Point your own registered domain name to your blog) ?
FTP (publishing on your ISP server) ?
SFTP (secure publishing on your ISP server)'
11. Click on 'FTP'.
12. Fill the following info
- FTP Server: ftp.nomadlife.org
- Blog URL : yourname.nomadlife.org (the exact name given to you in your info sheet)
- Blog Filename: enter "default.aspx" (without the double quote)
- Ftp Username : given in your infosheet
- Ftp Password : given in your infosheet
- FTP Path : nothing. (do not fill this in)
- Ping weblogs.com : Yes
- Saves Setting
- Now move on to Archiving
- Archive Path : /past/
- Archive Filename : archive.aspx
- Save Setting
- Make your first post (and republish your blog)
- Congratulation, now you have nomadlife weblog.
Instruction if you have already an old blogger blog.
Please follow this instruction closely. Don't fill any information unless the instruction tells you so.
- Login to Blogger (assuming you already have blogger weblog, if not, make one - this blogger account name can random btw; it doesn't have to correspond to the nomadlife address given to you; so xxx or 3dfcooldude will do just as fine as nicole)
- Go to "Settings"
- Choose "Publishing"
- Click "Switch to FTP" (not SFTP)
- FTP Server: ftp.nomadlife.org
- Blog URL : yourname.nomadlife.org (the exact name given to you in your info sheet)
- Blog Filename: enter "default.aspx" (without the double quote)
- Ftp Username : given in your infosheet
- Ftp Password : given in your infosheet
- FTP Path : nothing. (do not fill this in)
- Ping weblogs.com : Yes
- Saves Setting
- Now move on to Archiving
- Archive Path : /past/
- Archive Filename : archive.aspx
- Save Setting
- Make your first post (and republish your blog)
- Congratulation, now you have nomadlife weblog.
- I suggest you create a post titled 'about me' to introduce yourself to the nomadlife community.
Before of extra spaces on step number 7, 14 and 15. Don't copy and paste.
