Indonesia continues to ban active military and police from voting

The Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that military personnel and police would not be allowed to participate in 2014 elections because Indonesia’s political infrastructure was still too fragile to allow armed officers to participate in politics. The Jakarta Globe
We put this role after the 1998 revolution. The armed forces used to have seats in parliament etc and we moved to ban the armed forces involvement in politic. We went as far as banning active soldiers from post. I don't like the last part of the decision but it is understandable as we were in military regime for 50 years until in 1998. It took a while to purge the bad habit and grow political maturity of the country.
